FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I wear to the wedding?
Please dress formally for the wedding. Think beachy, but elegant. The ceremony will take place on the beach in the sand and the reception will take place by the lagoon on the sand, so shoes are optional. Anything you would wear to a nice restaurant on a summer day is appropriate.

Are kids invited to the wedding?
As we know many of you will make a family vacation out of this, you are absolutely invited to bring your children to stay with you at the resort. Hotel Xcaret has an incredible Kids and Teens Club that provides supervised activities daily from morning till night.

What do we do about transportation in Mexico?
Transportation to and from Hotel Xcaret Mexico is provided by the resort's complimentary shuttle bus. All transportation necessary for tours and excursions is also included and provided by the hotel. If you would like any private transfers or excursions, please ask our travel coordinator MarieSam for information and assistance on that request.

What is the weather like? What should we pack?
Playa del Carmen, Mexico is typically hot and humid during the summer months -- temperatures are usually in the high 80s to 90s. We recommend bringing light summer clothing and swimsuits. Other helpful essentials include sunblock, inset repellent, water shoes, swim coverups, flip-flops, sunglasses, etc. Think beach vacation with beach elegant attire for the Wedding Day and beach chic attire for dinners on the other nights during your stay.

Is there a dress code at the restaurants?
Yes some restaurants will require a dress code, click here for more info on those details.

Can I drink the water in Mexico?
Stick to bottled water only -- while the hotel's water system is filtered in the rooms, I still do not suggest drinking it. The water served at the restaurants and bars is safe to drink. But DO NOT drink water from the faucet or showers. This goes for all the parks as well -- stick to drinking bottled water and you will be fine.

Do I need to take a Covid-19 test to enter Mexico?
No, there is currently no requirement to take a test prior to entering Mexico. However, the CDC requires that all travelers entering the U.S. must show a negative Covid-19 test taken at least three days prior to arriving in the U.S. So you will need to take an antigen test at the resort in order to fly back home. PLEASE schedule your testing appointment when you first arrive and check-in. When you take your test, you will need to bring your passport with you as proof of ID.

Is Mexico Safe?
Mexico is very safe, but like all places you travel to, you must always have awareness and make smart decisions. Do NOT travel to areas away from the tourist zones, stick to the resort grounds or excursions/parks. Always try to have a partner with you when you go somewhere - be it on excursions, going off-site or walking around in the evening. The resort is extremely safe and secure, but like all places, be mindful and aware of your surroundings at all times. Understand that an all-inclusive resort, people are often drinking all day long.

Do I need to wear my mask and practice social distancing?
The people and government of Quintana Roo are quite strict when it comes to following Covid-safe practices to help thwart the spread of the virus in the area. You are required to wear masks in public spaces unless you are actively eating or drinking or in the water. Please be mindful of others and social distance as necessary. All resort staff and employees will be wearing masks and shields in an effort to keep themselves and all guests safe. There are hand sanitizing stations and bathrooms for washing hands throughout the resort, so please use them consistently. Please be respectful of the Mexican government and local people's primary focus on staying Covid safe and healthy.
